As many people tend to do, Alexandra did not immediately follow her passion for photography, but soon she was drawn back to the art. "I felt myself drifting away from photography after I graduated college in 2005 and moved from Maine to Boston. I needed to reconnect with the art form I love so much and so I started scouring the internet for photographers who would give me a chance to second shoot for them. Of course nobody wanted to take me on because I work a normal 9-5 job as a web developer. After months and months of searching, someone needed an assistant photographer for a wedding and so the portfolio began to develop!"
And what exactly is Alexandra's philosophy when it comes to wedding photography? I think she sums it up in saying "I've had a lot of brides and grooms tell me that they don't remember very much about the actual day because it goes by so fast. So, photography is the way they get to remember the day in it's entirety. I am very much about getting people in their element, not posed and giving me 'camera smile'."
As they say though, the proof is in the pudding and these gorgeous shots show precisely why Alexandra is a star on the rise in the Boston wedding scene. Alexandra shares about our featured wedding, "The couple was going to have their wedding next to a beautiful pond, and 3 weeks before the event the city revoked all permits for that area! As an apology to the couple, the town of Medford (MA) gave them the city hall building to host their wedding (they have never had a wedding there before) and it was beautiful inside! They had most everything handmade and the reception was a pot luck style. Friends and family provided this couple with almost everything!"
Thank you so much Alexandra for joining us today. If you'd like to see more of Alexandra's work, check out her website http://www.alexandraroberts.com/
